Meet Medhavi,
M.OMSc, B.Sc.(Kin.)

My fascination with how the human body moves and functions began in childhood. I was an active child, participating in a range of sports including Badminton, Track and Field, Cross-country skiing, and Biathlon, along with weight lifting at the gym. Over time, recurrent issues such as back, shoulder, hip, and knee pain led me to develop a deeper appreciation for the body’s natural healing capabilities.

After seeing many different practitioners growing up, it wasn’t until my first visit with an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner that my eyes were opened up to the possibility of using gentle treatment to correct posture, body misalignments and affect the nervous system all at the same time.  That experience inspired me to pursue a career in osteopathy.

Osteopathy is a lifelong learning journey, and I am deeply committed to advancing my knowledge and skills. I continually engage in continuing education courses and immerse myself in osteopathic literature to enhance every treatment I provide. Each day presents a new opportunity to deepen my understanding of the art and science behind Osteopathic Manual Therapy.

My Training

As a classically trained Manual Osteopathic Practitioner, I completed a comprehensive four-year education at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy (CAO), a recognized and licensed Osteopathic College. The professional association they are part of maintains a strong standing with the insurance industry and adheres to all annual requirements to retain their practicing license. All classically trained osteopathic Manual Practitioners from the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy (CAO) have rigorously completed a comprehensive 48-month program with 4200 curriculum hours, that includes 1,500 hours of hands-on practical training and 1,000 hours of supervised clinical experience.

At Align Osteopathy, we offer Manual Osteopathic care to support individuals seeking relief from a wide range of symptoms. Our goal is to help restore the body to a state of ease, promoting its natural ability to self-heal and self-regulate.

Our treatments are gentle, drug-free, and hands-on, guided by refined palpation skills and a deep integration of anatomical, physiological, and pathophysiological knowledge. Through this comprehensive understanding, we provide personalized assessments and treatments tailored to your body’s unique presentation at each visit.

We value the opportunity to help patients better understand their bodies and treatment process. Pain or dysfunction is not always rooted where it's felt, which is why treatment may be directed to areas that seem unrelated. This whole-body approach is a defining characteristic of osteopathic care and one that sets it apart from other modalities.

What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is based on the principle that the body's structure and function are closely interrelated. Osteopathic Manual Practitioners apply a hands-on approach rooted in functional anatomy to support the body’s natural healing processes. Rather than focusing solely on disease, osteopathy aims to restore optimal body mechanics, nerve impulses and the circulation of body fluids. By addressing all layers of anatomy and physiology, treatment helps to promote balanced, efficient movement and overall functional health.

"The role of the Osteopath is to help the body help it self."

The Fundamental Principles of Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a hands-on manual therapy that focuses on restoring the body’s alignment to enhance its natural ability to heal. It is grounded in three core principles.

Principle 1.

The body has the ability to self-heal and self-regulate.

Principle 2.

The structure and function of the body  are reciprocally interrelated.

Principle 3.

The body is a dynamic unit of function.

Treatment must be based on the above principles.
